Very good choices gentlemen! Was expecting a tough day today and went with Oud Ahmad. Focus, determination, and purpose are all needed and Ahmad was the perfect choice, IMO.

Robert, you are bumming me out brother. Whats the scoop there?

Today is Ceylon No.1. Honey, green apple sweetness. A Sri Lankan beauty. I just love this stuff!

This evening Oud Royale 1985 and Mai Wan Lao. Two opposite ends of the oud spectrum, two beauties. But OR1985...it's something else. Astounding.

Damnation, I really wish I had discovered Oud sooner, not so much the price aspect of it, in fact, I certainly get the feeling true artisan Oud is made just for love and not much money these days given the Chinese market demand, (hugely disheartened in empathy with Taha after his mutinous tribulation tale) but rather that I would have loved to sample Archipelago, the scent that impelled Taha to go into the craft, Sultan Al-Hind or Sultan's Solace, Old School Malazi, Sumatra Q Tiq and so many others that I have obviously missed out on and will never get the chance to.

For me, except the first Oud I ever tried which will always have a place in my heart, Oud is a glorious EM spectrum. All the colours of the rainbow, darkness and light and Dup and Own. (Rudy Rucker Mathenauts reference there)

Upon reflection it seems that I am hardwired to appreciate scent to an extreme degree, as all of us here are I am willing to wager, and because of that we all adore Oud because the scent of many of them touch us so deeply and move us on such a primeval level it's practically metaphysical. See? Full spectrum everything.

A fanciful theory... if one were to experience all Oud from the beginning of time, one would have an olfactory mental picture of the multiverse.

Borneo 5000 (EO) - first swipe today, lovely and unique Borneo, reminds me of Purple Kinam somewhat.. I've realized with oud I shouldn't do full reviews too quickly as, especially with fine wild ouds, it takes me many wearings to understand and appreciate them..

That is the Gods honest truth! So many times my initial impressions change so much after spending more time getting to know the oil. Even

RobertOne I have quite a lot of metaphysical and esoteric speculations on oud...it certainly encourages such speculations by being so astonishing. As for wanting them all, I understand you sir. But in the same way that the world contains many ouds, some ouds contain many worlds, and that is enough to keep one very happy for a good while I think. :)

That's a beautiful answer, Shabby, the consolations of philosophy are a many splendoured thing.

Today is Feel-oud day. Mai Bo Rai and Trat Selvagio. Good stuff.

And Kesiro... looking very much forward to trying those too!

Finally, it seems I am having communication breakdowns all across the board here, if anyone has PM'd my over the last few day then please resend.

I half-awoke after naptime with the distinct trace of Aroha Kyaku in my nose, or rather the ghost of it.

Flashback to this morning I had seen the email that advised me that stocks on this, my first, were running low and I had every interntion of greedily ordering two or a few bottles to tide me through my current Oudlessness* but I was swept away with my domestic duties and then ..... bloof ..... could not keep my eyes open a minute longer.

By the time I was at my laptop the last bottles had forever scampered away from the marketplace to the far distant shores of private collections. I shall accept a moment of guilt there. How sad that it has now passed into the annals of legends. I think this was truly a gift to us.

*Oudlessness - will start thread on this.

@kooolaid79 - sounds good. I have never tried any of the Al Shareef Ouds.

Today was an Assam 3000, Lalitya, and Mostafa No.5! Kept me going all day long. I am constantly blown away at the diversity of scents this magic resin can turn into. It is mind blowing what nature and the ingenuity and artistic nature of man can create.

Burma Myitkyina Reserve Gold from my own collection. Very hard to get this oil as its mostly faked. Burma produces some of the most amazing oils if you are into the more fruity/spicy/sweet tones mixed all in one. Two drops (I never swipe) on my wrist and the intense smell is there all day.

I would like to see Taha, Adam and Ensar get there hands on some wood from Northern Burma and work their magic to see if this gets better.

@Thomas. Yours got me to grab a little Kyara de Kalbar myself. Truly lovely. Fairly heady topnotes. Lovers of this legend should give Borneo Diesel a try.

That was last night. Purple Kinam today. Nuff said.

I've been out of commission quite a bit recently, my apologies to the gang here.

Purple Kinam for me today as well! Sent my daughter off to school with a swipe as well. What's good for the goose is good for the gander as they say.
