This Chugoku Senkoh may be in my future.. Sounds quite interesting..

Went with some exceptionally fine oils yesterday - Kynam No 1 (EO) to start the day - I love the way the camphorous aspect is integrated into this amazing earthy note - and then the golden nectar/floral aspect interwoven.. In the evening I treated myself to the Brunei Kinam (EO) - this is the sort of oil I will only wear if I'm able to really meditate on the scent - quite lavish and just sublimely beautiful - there are aspects that remind me of Purple Kinam, though Brunei Kinam is another level more extravagant, in my opinion..

Wow. Some great oils out there guys! Agree on the Brunei Kinam 5MeO, I get some Borneo Diesel and Kyara de Kalbar as well. Be the BK definitely more lavish and decadent. And Kynam No1 was what really changed things for me. Graduate studies I was told..boy I had no idea!

For me, Borneo 5000. This is a really under the radar Borneo. Clearly comes from a well to do family, royal IMO, with Queen Borneo 3000. This one has some of the pure beauty of 3000, but also some sweet syrupy woodiness.

Royal Guallam - EO

I can only compare it to other oils I've smelt. It showcases the bitterness of Kynam no. 1 (EO), the sourness of Hainan Imperial (IO), and the sweetness of Ceen (ASO). Intensely medicinal, light woody undertone.

I can hear my heart crying in my chest after smelling this one.

Agreed! Royal Guallam is a true shape-shifter - I love the earthy bitter and sour notes in there - some of the really fine Vietnamese ouds seem to have this quality, which I love even more after smelling it in heated pieces of Vietnamese wood..

Royal Guallam is one of my favorite oils in general - it has a supremely grounded and tranquil spiritual energy to it..

My SOTD is FO Dr. Hindi and OST, One 1/4 swipe alternating zwither on my philtrum every single hour.

Also not ashamed to admit that now I am home I am taking a damn good swig of very fine rum.

I got back home late last night in the dark, weary and utterly slept deeply. Woke to the kids awakening at 6am ish and I discovered what state of kaos..... eh, enough said.

I also start a temp job tomorrow at a daycare, driving, cooking and helping peripherally with care, at least it will keep me off a street corner for a few days. :)

Great to be back!

@bhanny, no doubt the scent profiles would be blatantly different, but as far as the 'texture' of the two is concerned, how would you compare BK and BD? Would you say BK is a Brunei version of the Malinau oil BD?

I think the BD is the closest I have to the BK, 'texture' speaking. The thing with BK, to me, it feels like I'm a medieval king, draped in the most exquisite and plush silk, brought from the far east. Nothing else quite captures that, but BD is definitely the closest in my library.

I theorize in the future us Oud lovers will evolve to grow 3rd arms to be able to have more hands and wrists to swipe on. :D

Wearing Feel-Ouds sandal infusion.. Thick, has a honey vibe to it but smells so amazing... My daughter who is 9 loves his funk master and put some on the back of her hand to take whiffs of it at school lol

SOTD is courtesy of my beloved brother @Abasfrag and it is the dark and magical elixir known as Oud Khidr. Along with IO's Semkhor, this is the only other hindi which I actually 'like' at this stage of my oud journey and I think thats partly due to the fact I get the dark smokey vibes of Aroha Kyaku from it, maybe some chocolate as well!!? Like the person its named after, it really is very mysterious! Beautiful oud!

I have to mention what @Kruger posted the other day, regarding a certain anonymous oud that he was constantly reapplying before a dry down could take place.
The very same thing happened to me, and it is the first time it has happened.
If this was the same nameless oil, I can see why.
Normally, I'll have a single swipe and let it unfold; studying it along the way.
This one in particular, I needed to experience the beginning again and again. I had 3 swipes within the first 8 minutes, what an opening!
I have a limited vocabulary for anything other than Hindis, but this one opens with a sharp and fresh Sinensis profile...and some glorious sour red fruit.
Minutes later I believe I'm smelling faint whiffs of the kind of topsoil that is used for Mitti; the smell of freshly rained upon earth...perhaps I'm having olfactory hallucination for peanuts too.The drydown includes a very peaceful, soft, non-barn hindi, with a very tiny bit of that Kaunnauj dust and glowing Sinensis sunset.
This really is a complex puzzle, I'll be curious to hear what the experts say on this one.
More later!
