Out of the goodness of his heart, PEARL had sent me a few samples about a month ago, and one of them was Lao Chen Xiang (AA). I finally just had the chance to put some on today.
This is a breathtaking Sinensis from Laos. Gorgeous animalic-barn at the onset with a sour-sweet (dried apricot, cherries) heart. I also got a decent amount of powdery lilac mixed in there.
Thanks to @PEARL for giving me the chance to smell this, and thanks to @Taha for making it. Man, if I could turn back time (cue Cher) and purchase a bottle.... I arrived too late =/

I concur about the the generosity of @PEARL. He went out of his way and sent me more than just a sample of some very high quality Ouds. I am grateful to Him and I hope to give him back much more!

Kindness, good nature and generosity are just a few character traits that beget themselves. This community is full of people who have been way, waayy, waaayyy generous, kind and good natured towards me. All I can say first and foremost is thank you to gentlemen like @kooolaid79 @kesiro @oudgumbo @bhanny who have gone out of their way to share some tremendously exceptional and incomparable oils and woods with me. And lastly, you are all most welcome to share anything in my collection.

Hainan 2005 (EO)! This one never ceases to amaze and delight - aside from Royal Kinam this is probably my favorite Chinese oil - and Royal Kinam to me does not have the "Chinese" oil profile - there is nothing of the tart musky orange peel type notes that oils like Hainan 2005, China Sayang, Yunnan '03, or Chinese Exclusive have..

My sotd is 34years old Assam Oil from a respected local vendor in Mumbai. SSS maleki. One of the most sophisticated Hindi Ouds I have sniffed in a while. Dark thick honey caramel leather. It has aged like a beauty. Old school barn but its got the royal velvet. Then comes the sweetness. It is extremely powerful. It is edible grade oil. I was made to taste it. Sent a sample to a seasoned Oud lover. He is forwarding it to his oud lover friends in Qatar. I rarely come across a gentle aged Hindi aroma like this. The unique sweetness of Hindi makes it my favorite. I eventually grabbed a tola at around 700USD. In the International market only AAs chamkeila came closer to the typical Assam profile. I have good Oud from Hojai which was like a heavily incensy version of that without the fermentation funk. But This takes things to a level never experienced before. I am sure lovers of the Hindi legend will be thrilled to test it. And one day I share a little with all.

Man, Nikhil, that sounds incredible. The sweet notes you describe are incredibly appealing to me in particular. Sounds just awesome!!!
I know brother. I am constantly in search of this profile but most of the market including that of Ajmal couldn't provide me this quality. You ll know this is something special from the first sniff off the cap. Aging has caused it to mellow down brilliantly. I will send you a sample across along with the dark incense wood like hojai oil. A little drop will turn winters into summers lol. It's got a warm effect. Its aging very well too. I have asked my guy to get me more. He used to work as a worker in hojai hence the contacts. I will age it myself lol. I know that hindi sweetness just blows the mind away.

Please share any info on the Oud Shuayb? I am not familiar with this one at all.
Hi Doc,
Oud Shuayb is a 2011 Burmese distillation.
I'll share my thoughts on it in greater depth when I have a moment, however, master Pearl wrote his own thoughts about it back in January.
For those in India, happy Guru Purnima this eve; the day where we give thanks and show respect to those masters or teachers we have learnt from in life. :)

Sure brother. The father of the gentleman ingests it. I am not sure how it affects him. But it tasted bitter like sandalwood. Lemme send some across.

Oud Shuayb is the direct successor to Oud Mostafa (No 1). Both hail from the most revered locale for Oud al Hindi: Manipur (aka Imphal). Common practice over the last decade has been to harvest the wood right across the border in Myanmar, haul it over to Manipur and sell it as 'Manipuri' or 'Imphali'. The smell is swell, one & the same, whether the tree was 50km east or west of a political line running on a piece of paper, so I personally don't attach much significance to the 'exact' location in this particular scenario.

The same applies to Oud Zachariyya, only further north, on the Burma-Nagaland political boundary.

Thank you for clearing that up, when @Taherg mentioned Manipur, I was sure I must have made a mistake.
Upon checking the label again, I saw Burma and the date.
Regardless, it's absolutely beautiful.
Yesterday's swipe made my day.
