Sulaweisi:
The piece like a ring. Took shavings from all around. Area shaved looks like crayon. Shiny and oily. Parts brittle parts carve like smooth frozen butter.

The scent? Classic cummingiana as I know it from the Philippines is there minus the white pepper funk that I have seen in tawi tawi wood. Instead this Sulawesi has a subdued floral note reminiscent of old rose oto mixed with dark jungle honey. Tarragon and savory infused honey. A sweetness rarely seen in other regions and younger infections. Delicious smelling with a ton of fine bubbles.

Philipino king
Small dense nug.
Scent is philipino as I know it. Same kyen piece from taha, that I procured from Alkhadra and Kyarazen. Probably a bit richer and tad more intense. Lasts longer on low heat.

Sumatora '96: Vintage is what comes to mind when I see these beauties, exquisitely cleaned, vivid veins of resin, and that's just looking at them. The profile has as many notes as there are hues of color, floralized terpenoid bitterness gives way to caramelized brown sugar butter with Sumatran jungle density.

It'll last all day on the kyara heater as the microscopic bubbles emerge from the resinous depths.

I have to re try. Have yet to understand this one. I get virtually no sweetness. I get plenty of resin scent ala the same resin ensar released a while back. I get dark green leaves notes and bitter medicinal like Woody notes. The sugar butter note sounds awesome. I’ll try shaving s but from all the pieces I have and try again soon.

Looks like very nice wood. Only remark, the terms ‘king’ and ‘super king’ generally apply to carving size pieces.

96 harvest almahera by EO: maluku red resin wood.

from this is interesting, to this is different to, wow wow wow. whats remarkable is the rather pale, light brown with redish tinge wood. is dense and hard as hell. shaving 0.1 gram off honestly is enough to have a few minutes of a wow experience.

what a wood. i can only imagine what an oil made from it could be like. drool.

You should try my 1997 harvest from neighboring Maluku island Ceram! ;)

As I started picking through the bag of Ceram 1997, an astonished "are you kidding me!?!?!?!" came to mind... the potent ambient aroma from the bag is distinctly floral and the pieces much more dense than I thought!

Below are a few of my favorites:

God damn man. How in the world is this possible? How can a wood smell more floral than a flower? why was this kept a secret from all of us? And lastly you better have an oil made from this wood already and it better be aging in the deep dark corners of your safe within a safe within a safe behind a secret bookshelf behind a painting. I feel it will shove PK’s face in it and immediately jump to your top releases ever. This is deliscious delicious wood and beyond pretty. It is profound. Score!

Ps I totally agree with adam and 100% agree that the ambient aroma of the wood is not only present but on steroids and it is distinctly purple in scent. Iris in fact is the closest thing that springs to mind. Zero exaggeration and no power of suggestion needed. It is just that obvious when it is staring you in the face.

I don't really know what to say about the 'secret' part other than, "Everything in its proper time!".... :D
I most definitely have an oil made from this wood, and you're SO dead on that it's aging in the deep recesses of my Singapore safe deposit box, behind a treadmill behind a TV, etc etc. (Strongly disagree about anything olfactory in this realm ever shoving PK's face into anything; after all, it's Purple KINAM we're talking about).

Oud Royale Maluku 2017 is one ENORMOUS oil though. So far, only one person has smelled it, if I am not mistaken, and he snatched like 2-3 bottles on the spot (I forget the exact details).

Ouch, I guess this means I'm going to have to release this oil then! I don't like keeping people in suspense (thought the official video of the wood was posted a couple years ago on another thread; so whoever was looking for 'documentation' of the raw materials can look it up).

Alright, folks. Oud Royale Maluku it is! :)

Sweet. No rush. Whenever you think the oil is ready. Selfishly speaking later the better so our poor Canadian dollar can climb up a bit.

@Rasoul S , @Ensar should keep you on retainer for marketing team!...at this moment i am struggling with the decision of 20,30 or 50gr of Ceram...damn Canadian dollar lost a couple cents, and the CC rate is ridiculous...
and now looking forward to the new Royale Maluku...

Shibli also sounds very tempting...tried some Manipur wood from IO, and it is amazing...smells better to me than the couple of Assam woods i’ve managed to try so far....Too bad we don’t have Rasoul’s review to help decide on that one!:p:D

Let me make that easy for you and lighten your Canadian dollar woes just a tiny bit. Go for the 50 gr and claim a free .3g vial of Shibli as a free gift. This offer is extendable to all Canadians who order 50 gr of Ceram 1997 within the next couple of days, courtesy of Rasoul & Arsalan’s effective lobbying efforts on behalf of Canadian dollar-earning oudheads.

Good one.

@Arsalan
Shibli is likely a beautiful oil but one from a genre that falls just outside my area of interest otherwise I would have been all over it and you would have had an impression share from me already. Royal Imphal on the other hand is right up my alley. I love it. You should seek it out. The muana note in it is to die for. Like a warm blanket on your back on a cold day.

As for being a marketing man, I know what you mean and don’t mean. I mean I know you were joking and being lighthearted In your time and intention. But For sake of clarity I like to stress the value impartiality to me as much as humanly possible.

Is no secret that I love Ensar Oud offerings collectively the most amongst all fellow artisans but that doesn’t equate to anything that goes thru Ensar Oud is gold. In fact humbly and respectfully speaking, I have yet to really be enamored by an attar from Ensar Oud.

Anyways The spirit of my posts is to be truthful to myself and my nose/brain wiring first. Then to enriches others experiences. Oud has brought much joy in my life and helps greatly to deal with my chronic pain and agony. It helps brighten the dark cloudy string of weeks with no sun, that vancouver is famous for and it helps brings a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark political/economical climate around us in today’s age.

I want nothing from Ensar Oud or the likes but one thing. I want them to know there are a few that truly dedicate the time and energy to appreciate their craft. Their meticulousness and ocd is not going un-noticed. Also I like to help keep their embers and fire of creativity burning. If mozart’s Audience were all deaf, Mozart wouldn’t have made what he continued to churn out.

Being ciritical if and when truly deserving and when it can be constructive of course is a must.

@Arsalan see if you can see if Ensar Oud can extend the INSANE sultan sulayman sale they had to us poor Canadians. Let me be frank here: aside sultan Ahmet, to my nose and to my experience I put sulayman ahead of all other sultans. Abdül hamit, beyazit, mustafa, salahudin and Abdus selam. It is a knock out oil. Rich top to bottom and oh so beautiful. Ridiculously complex and best part is those purple floral malay overtones. In fact if you score a 2.5 or 3 gram bottle, you can count me in for upto 1 gram of it.

Oh alright, you Canadian diplomat. A Sultan Süleyman special is now officially in effect for all orders going to Canada. Only the 3g option is on sale at a whopping $1,000 off. Just write “Rasoul Lobby” in the comments and you will get $1,000 credited back to your credit card or PayPal account.

As part of this sale, all non-Canadian customers please add $1,000 on top of the regular price when ordering Sultan Süleyman. The amount can be PayPaled directly, or if you pay by credit card we’ll just make an additional charge of $1,000 before sending your orders. ;)
