Sounds great my brother! It is Yoshi again for me. Something about this one make me crave it often. It is a very "perfume" like scent.
Thats beautiful Sir! My next project is Hainan 05 (I mean I hope I don't get it:) and then Yoshi or it might be the other way around LOL

Sultan Suleyman today. Awesome Malaysian/New Guinea co-distillation. Starts with beautiful, bright, pristine incense. I definitely get a subtle purple hue here that blends nicely with the mild oceanic vibe from the NG wood.

When I got home from dinner, Hainan 2005 called me to listen, so I took a swipe of that too. So very nice. What a beautiful balance of the orange peel, neroli, haunting animals and bittersweet kinam.

I hate to break it to you, but Brian is correct as always. You are guaranteed to 'get it', lol. Hainan 05 is KILLER! Yoshi is amazing, YMMV, but I can't imagine you won't love it. If you are tapped out buying, my advice is do not sample!! Dang Adam always sends something with every order. I am seriously considering asking him to make sure there is no "little gift" with what ever I order. Unfortunately I can't get myself to do it. ;-)

Yeah Phil, it is very nice. His Sultan series are some of the safest bets around. I've not had one that hasn't blown me away.

And Phil is right koolaid, Hainan05, its just one of the magical oils. The best of my Chinese offerings for sure.

Hi Phil. Actually Adam on my last order sent me a sample of the Hainan05. I had actually smelled it before from a close friend who ordered a .4 gram bottle. That's why I am so heads over heal with the Hainan05. I am going to try to control myself for a bit and save some to purchase that. I will wait till it says running low. I hope that's not like tomorrow though. LOL

Another thing about the Hainan is that, it was mentioned this oil is from the same family of the Royal Kinam. I bought the royal Kinam back in 2008. It was probably my favorite Oud period. In the 6 years I had the 3 gram oil I think I used .2-.3 grams and that's it.

In 2013 I remember during the holidays I went to visit my parents. My younger brother was there and while I was bbqing some prime rib eye steak, I asked my brother if he would like to smell one of the best Ouds I have come across. He said show me show me. I remember taking the bottle out and reluctantly giving it to him to see. He took a whiff and looked at me, while I had smoke going on from the BBQ. I said I know. He said wow and I said I know. He asked me if he could take it inside and show his wife (biggest mistake I did) and I agreed and said you got exactly 3 mins to bring that back to me and you better not use any. He came back and said to me that she said this is Magical. I smiled.

He said I want to buy it. I said HECK NO. He said I'll give you $1000 cash right now. I said nope. He kept begging for the next 45 mins and each time I changed the subject he kept asking for it.

Sigh I said okay you can have it. He was overjoyed but I told him take good care off it. 1 month later he finished the bottle

Now I hear of this bottle of Hainan is close to the royal Kinam, That's why I am excited.

Sorry for the long story.

Hahaha! That is a tragically funny story. Thanks for sharing that. Your brother must have slathered that on like Jergens lotion to go through it that quickly. Personally I am very juditious with my usage. The oils seem to go a long way for me. I get 4-5 wearings easy out of 0.13gms. Rotating the oils day to day makes them go a long way.

Ouch! I've always wanted a bottle of Royal Kinam. 1 month!!! Ugh. ;)

Musk Rose Attar – JK DeLapp. Very beautiful rose, which I remember being even more beautiful when the sample vial JK graciously sent me was freshly filled.

@JK, does this contain any alcohol, which may have evaporated from the vial? I remember it being a lot more vibrant than this! Perhaps you should do this one as an EDT, to retain the original crispness and integrity of the composition, which was fantastic!

Borneo 3000 today. Rough night with one of my boys not sleeping and it's already rough here at the hospital. Needed something perfectly beautiful.

Sorry to hear that Brian. Hope your day gets better.

I am going old school today: Mostafa No5. The combination of a bit of cheesy animalic funk and sweet wood notes and un-adulturated Oud just does it for me.

Thank you my friend! They always get better. And I will definitely swipe some delicious Hindi "funk" in a short bit. Love ending my day with some Nuh or Isa or Kyara d'Assam.

Mustafa 5. Nice stuff. Did an evening swipe of that in you gents honor. And a swipe of Oud Isa to suffice my Hindi crave. Both so nice in their own way. A little barn and sweet hay is there in Isa, and is done nicely, but is much more quiet than in the bold and beautiful Mustafa. Isa is a soft, sweet, honeyed suede, dipped in caramel, berries and cream.

Hey 5MeO. I think I had a sample of 2000. But that was a bit ago, where does it fall along its Borneo relatives that you've tried?
Heya Bhanny! That's a good question - certainly it is one of my favorite in the Borneo category - there is a clean piercing woodiness about it that is just fantastic - I read a report where someone said they thought it was very similar to Kaliman Kala, but I do not agree with that..

Today - "Oud Sultan Murad" (EO) - a New Guinea version of clean piercing woodiness!
