I totally agree...I also had not smelled Kyara or Kinam before I bought two "kyara" oud oils so I really could not say what I was smelling. Some time later after I acquired a few grams of different "colours" or types of Kyara and had the chance to experience the scent directly, I realized that the scent is more or less the very same as I found in the two oils I had bought before the Kyara. The note(s) of kyara have been described adequately here and there so people with a somewhat trained nose will be able to single out the "special note" that is the scent of Kyara.

I agree on the misleading part, however I have had the chance to own two Kinam Oudhs. The first being Royal Kinam and the 2nd one being Assam Kinam.
Both of those Oils had a very particular note which was described as Kinam. There are a few notes which stand out of all notes in some Oudhs and you can tell right away that "particular" note. I found that "particular note" in both those Oils and have found that note in this China Sayang.
I haven't smelled Kinam/Kyara wood personally but have read and visualized what it would smell like. The day I get a chance to smell something of that caliber shouldn't be a big huge surprise because the experts have spoken about it and continue speaking about what's it like, so we are learning and grasping about it as much as we can.

Man that sounds awesome! Can you give us more info on this please? I am not familiar with it.
Of course! It's an older oil that Taha did in 2014 I think. I may not be doing the scent justice, it is a dark Malaysian that has nice depth and is powerful on me. Drys down to a more smooth resin-y dare I say funk?!

The beautiful super honey thick like Dom Kwan. The fruity cocktail is unlike any fruit cocktail we have smelled. This has all the fruits which you can think of added with some beautiful agarwood.
I kept the bottle under my clothed armpit area for 20 mins and that really had the Oil flowing.

Thank you very much! The words 'dark Malasian' are pure music to my ears and no doubt to your olfactory system.

I never did get a chance to try Maroke Sultan, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. @Oudamberlove if I'm not mistaken you own this oil also?
Maroke Sultan boasts a strong opening. Not quite as dark as other Marokes. The jungle aspect of it is "jungle in the sunshine" as opposed to a dark dank jungleness. It also has more of a "mineral earth" vibe than other Marokes. It has a wide bandwidth of heart notes. About a gram of it is stored in limited volume vials, will the other gram went into my Maroke Madness blend. The other third I shared on ebay.

Thank you! Mineral earth sounds wonderful!

Agarwood oils can have notes such as anise, leather, indole, dates, fig, hay, honey, orange rind, prune, clove, rose, old books, damp, cocao, toffee, jungle, cheesy, mint, camphor, vanilla, amber, cardamom, tobacco, etc.

Can an agarwood oil have notes of kyara/kinam?

Kemewahan was one of my first "favorite" oils - I acquired it pretty early in my collecting. Some people make comparisons to Aroha Kyaku as there is a distinct smoky element - Kemewahan is a darker and more of a rich woody scent though, rather noble and stern, whereas Aroha Kyaku has a sort of a zesty fruit and licorice element to it.. Anyhow, I have something like a gram and a half of Kemewahan in 1ml vi-vials if you wanna swap or buy it from me - it is one of the few oils I bought a full bottle of - for quite some time I have just been buying .15g-.5g quantities of oud..

Today I got a chance to try the Borneo 50k for the first time. As soon as I smelled it, I almost dropped. The remembrance of the Borneo 3000 and Borneo 4000 came alive instantly. The beauty of Borneo 3000 is no need for description but wow upon wow on the resemblance to the Borneo 4000. The potency of this Oud is unparalleled. The quality of probably some of the best agarwood used for this Oudh stands like no other Borneo wood!
