Actually tonight was a great session of Oud. I had received my shipment of Ensar Oud Brunei Exquisite recently and i have been eager to try it. First I have to commend the guys at Ensar Oud there for the new delivery time, literally 3 days via DHL express service and for the new packaging (slick black silky covered box...nice touch).

. nice resin pattern and some surface sheen. The package came with a sample of something amazing called Kyaratul Brunei

that challenged to knock the king super I have. So I started with it and when i broke off a most amazing thing I found inside the wood. It looked like a small seed

and when burned it didn't smell like wood but rather like Jasmine! The wood itself was resinous (dark brown on red brown background). The scent was Cinnamon-y and raisn-y with deep sweetness with light accent of nutmeg. When inhaled it hit the frontal sky of the mouth and penetrates the sinus area. around the eyes giving amazing relief around the head. The scent calms the mind but activate the body, very good for meditation. I literally "hear" the chips crackling lightly as the surface starts shimmering w/ oil residue. Not a lot of bubbling but has a copious amount of delicious scent
Ensar might not like this but this Chip is like Thaqeel in all the good meaning of Theqeel in people's mind or the original Oud Royal, meaning this is an old, very old Oud and it makes you respect it's presence. This might be a private stach and I am not sure if it will be for sale. That led me to pull the last small piece of the Oudline King Super that I had left stached for such a moments

to compare. I still would have to say it is a draw but I'll let you guy at Ensar Oud be the judge of that. when you have an amazing Ouds woods like those it is very difficult to go down even to good Oud like the Brunei Exquisite but that's what I did. It is still very good wood. The scent is like roasted nuts with lots of coffee and slightly burnt sweet syrup. Medium to heavy density wood and slow burning resin but very steady and burns over a long period of time compared to the size of the chip. this is a chip to scent one self and to enjoy even though that it imparts the nice smell all over the room. The after burnt smell is so calming and centering. very nice.
