Here is the skinny on someone I am surprised we havent read much about.
Tonight was spending an hour with A bunch of Dr incense sticks
Most are just acceptable to good. One letdown: cambodi. Smells pretty much of very generic agarwood. No sense of place.
Two of his though stand out for me:
Assam. which actually has that true to kind, meet expectation, carrying typicity and dash of oomph. And the other is hoi an. Actually very legit stick. Regardless if the material used was post distillate or partial or processed this or that way. Tarakan would be a soft 3rd spot.
Note: his stuff imho based on my 9 samples of which all are past 9 month releases, is certainly a whole two-three tiers below kz, wsg, a good 5 Japanese houses... packaging is fantastic. Beyond actually. Prices are high to pretty high.
Conclusion:
I for one am not buying anymore of his sticks. His raw material though is legit. They have all matched Kz offerings, best of Ensar’s, taha, IO, ASO.... but pricy.
